Willowtree Farms Inc. is a diverse farm with a focus on farm gate sales, owned and operated by the McKay family. We farm approximately 600 acres northeast of Toronto in the town of Port Perry. We raise beef and lamb that is all sold through our on-farm butcher shop. We grow 170 acres of fruits and vegetables that are sold through multiple venues, including: our on-farm store, farmer's markets, our CSA program, and through wholesale accounts. We have approximately 400 families enrolled in our CSA program, which keeps growing each year. We grow pastures, grasses, and grain crops to feed our own livestock, and we grow straw for our animals to use as bedding, and for produce to help with over-wintering. We have a sugar bush where we tap 500 trees for maple syrup. This syrup is sold directly to our customers. We also press, pasteurize, and bottle apple and other fruit ciders. We custom press for other apple farmers in the area as well. We also wholesale a few of our crops namely: garlic, strawberries, corn, and cash crops.
We also operate a year-round, on-site farm store where we offer a wide selection of Ontario’s finest foods including: produce straight from our fields, artisanal meats and cheeses, preserves, baked goods, and so much more. We have a fresh butcher shop, that uses traditional methods of cutting from whole carcass. We have a scratch kitchen with a chef and team, cooking up amazing meals and sweets.
We run a number of on-farm events every year, including:
Easter Egg-Stravaganza, Customer Appreciation Corn Roast, Strawberries in September, Pumpkin Palooza, Adventures with Santa, and sleigh rides on Christmas Eve. We also offer live music throughout the summer months. We have a small, free petting zoo and a Bears playground.
